Seville was apparently the city in Spain that Hernando DeSoto began his
expedition to the Americas.
The 1959 DeSoto was the second year they used the Seville name. The
first DeSoto Seville was in 1956 when DeSoto used the name for the lower-priced
2 and 4 door hardtops in the Firedome series. The Seville
name replaced the 1955 Firedome Special Coupe. The regular
hardtops were called Sportsman.

Subject: [FWDLK] Why Seville ?
Hi All -
Trivia Question. First person to get this right
wins...nothing.
Why did Desoto choose the name Seville ? FYI, it
*wasn't* to make people think it was a Cadillac !
