George, Since neither the outside nor the inside handle will operate the latch, it seems you will need as much elbow room as you can get ...so you can spray lots of penetrating oil at that mechanism and start wiggling the latch release. I think Marv's idea of studying the passenger side door latch mechanism for clues is your first course of action, followed by Ron's idea of removing the seat. (If you are fortunate enough to have swivel seats, removal of either front seat is very simple). Later today I will have a look at a mechanism I have out of the door and see if I can come up with any tricks.
