Re: [FWDLK] '57 AMT Chrysler

As I have recently purchased one of the "Lucy" Belvederes that AMT makes, I
thought I would chime in with a little review. It is, at best, loosely
based on the '58 Fury body style. The windows are "tinted" totally black to
the point where they are not even windows...just black plastic. The bumpers
are not chrome...they are painted the same color as the rest of the car and
are totally the wrong shape. Part of the engine is sticking out of the hood
of the car and the size proportions of the engine to the rest of the car
seem way off to me (engine is too small). The size of the finz are a bit
exaggerated. In true low-rider fashion, the body sits much lower to the
ground than the real thing and the hubcaps are also drastically different.
In short, if you removed the "Peanuts" and "Lucy" artwork and painted it
some other color than the peach-ish plastic that it ships with, it could
very easily be some sort of drug-lord car. It is only a skill-level 1 model
and includes about a dozen pieces that snap together to complete the model.
Took me about 3 minutes to put this one together. However, despite all of
the inaccuracies, it is still kind of fun as a novelty only. I don't know
anything about the "Taz" car. If anyone gets a line on the AMT '58
Belvedere 2d HT model, please let me know as I have been looking for this
particular model for quite some time. Several hobby-shops that I have
called have told me that it is no longer being offered by AMT. I hope that
this is not the case.
