That is a tough one. I have not done any that old but on the 60's to 80's cars they are generally pressed onto the shaft. If you hold the cup at the back of the shaft and grab the speedo needle at the base you can GENTLY twist the needle while GENTLY pulling upward it should turn and come up. There may be a little initial resistance but it should turn and come off. If it feels like you are beginning to twist the shaft STOP. It may me frozen on and if you apply too much force it will snap the shaft. Anyone familure with these particular years please correct me if I am wrong.
