Well, I finally got my Tank reassembled only to find it will not start. Turns over but won't hit. Smell gas, so that's ok. It ran like a top before I started working on it about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Evidentally, the trouble lies somewhere near the horn relay, starter relay, and ballast resistor. 1-I tested for current going to the new ballast resistor and found none. That wire is dead and may go 'to' something. meaning it got switched with something else. I'll try to trace it. 2-the ballast resistor seems to be good. 3-I haven't checked for spark output. Need a helper to do that. 4-Some wires don't look like they are in the right place according to the diagram in the book. The wire colors never did match the book and the horn relay doesn't look quite the same. 5-But I figure if I got current going to the ballast resistor and coil, the beast should light off. Maybe I broke a wire somewhere. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, -Bill -------------- 1956 DeSoto 4dr Firedome Atlanta, GA ---- |
