[FWDLK] hood latches

Something I noticed today. I now have two 56 Plymouth Savoys. The hood
latches on the car are different. One the v/8 56, the spring and male part
of the latch is on the car and you only need to move one lever on the hood
to release.
On the 6 cyl 56 the spring and male part are on the hood. You need to
release one lever on the car, primary release and then another lever on the
hood for the second release. Was this some kind of mid year change,
difference in a v/8 and 6cyl. Maybe one has 55 stuff on it.
Any idea, just curious
