Re: [FWDLK] Exhaust Manifold Leak!

Hi Bill,
I have some expertise in this subject due to working with drag cars.  Please note, these fixes will NOT look stock (sorry).  Moroso and Summit both make Dead soft Aluminum Manifold Gaskets and Copper Manifold Gaskets.  Both offer superior sealing and I have NEVER had either set leak once installed correctly.  Also Earl's has a new gasket that is Aluminum stamped with o-rings that is supposed to be good, but I have not personally tried them yet.  The caveat to this is, you must use Stage 8 brand locking manifold bolts OR drill and  safety wire some plain jane stainless bolts.  Also, you must torque the bolts to the specs and in the manner described in the maintenance manual.  Do this and these two methods have always sealed my leaks and I have dealt with some of the most warped, screwed up manifolds and headers you will ever see.

Hey Everyone!

Looking for some help on how to solve my cars exhaust manifold leak. ( This will be the fifth time I will have to do this. ) My 1960 Dodge Polara's 383 c.i.d. engine (passenger side only) goes through manifold gaskets like butter!  I have used the two kinds of gaskets ( 1st & 2nd time ) that I know of..... that are available, then, for the third time, doubled the gaskets of harder of the two types,  ( sorry I forget the name ) then, ( fourth time! ) machined the manifold true, used one gasket and was advised to use lock tight on the bolts, and it leaks again! Why is this happening? What shall I do next? I am open to your suggestions.

Thanks.
