Christine is "not really a Fury". It's not a Belvedere. It's not even a Plymouth. It isn't really anything... except a -fictional- car. There are bound to be lots of discrepancies between a work of fiction and the real thing. King made up the details to fit the purposes of his book. Fury vs. Belvedere is thus a moot point when dealing with a fictional car. The car is, and only ever can be, as described in the book. Christine DID have a gear shift lever, door lock buttons, four doors, a Hydromatic transmission, a 392 (with a single air cleaner) or 318 (depending on where you read it in the book), and did come in red & white. A 1958 Plymouth Fury did NOT come with any of these. Does that mean that Christine isn't a Fury? The answer is: Christine is a fictional car. There is no other valid answer. =) I get lots of people at car shows that argue with me about Christine being a Fury or not being a Fury. Christine was a fictional car in a book and movie. That's about all you can really argue on the subject. -Dave -----Original Message----- From: karl peterson [mailto:nitekatt@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2001 12:18 PM To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [FWDLK] christine, myth or mystery? I am overwhelmed with the amount of info garnered here on this subject. Now while Frank mentioned the amomalies with the door locks and tranny selector, I was really wondering if the car was really a Fury at all and not simply a red (since 58 Fury's didn't come in red) Belvedere with the 350 twin-fours optional motor?
