While some of the list were having a
mud bath at Carlisle, some of us were enjoying the sunshine at the Rally of the
Giants show at Knebworth House, England. This show is aimed at pre '59 cars
although a number of sixties cars do turn up
We had a line-up of 11 finned
MoPars, eight from England and three from France.
English owned cars were:-
Gavin & Robbie Garrows 1956 Imperial
Southampton & '58 Firesweep coupe,
1957 Dodge 4dr hardtop,
1959 Dodge Custom Royal coupe,
1957 Chrysler New Yorker hardtop,
1958 Chrysler 300-D fuel injection
coupe,
1960 Imperial Lebaron sedan,
My '59 Plymouth station
wagon
The French cars were:-
Philippe Courants 1960 Imperial Lebaron
southampton,
1961 Imperial Lebaron southampton,
1955 Imperial coupe,
The '55 Imperial won the 'Best Overseas entry'
award and the '57 New Yorker won 'Best Chrysler'.
The Chrysler Club also awarded trophies to
the '61 Lebaron, '58 Firesweep and the 300-D.
American car expert Phil Skinner did the
commentary in the arena and did a good job of helping to promote the forward
look cars.
Although overall turnout at the show was slightly
down on previous years, we were pleased
with the Chrysler line-up, I believe the French enjoyed the show
and are planning to return next year with more cars.
Thank You to all the Europeans that came over
for our show.
