Re: [FWDLK] 1956 Imperial or Crown Imperial

Hi Joe:

The Crown Imperial is the limousine only. Besides having obviously a longer
wheelbase and jump seats inside, the Crown Imperials used 1955 bodies
with }tacked on" tailfins to update them to 1956 styling. To see a 56 Crown
Imperial, go to:
http://www.imperialclub.com/YearByYear/1956/SpottersGuide/index.htm and look
toward the bottom of the page.

For 56, there was a (pillared) Sedan, a 2-door Southampton coupe, and a 4-dr
Southampton. Southampton meant hardtop body style.
Starting in 1957, Imperial used the model names Crown and LeBaron, but even
then, "Crown Imperial" was the limousine, not to be confused with the
"Imperial Crown", even though they are all the time :).
