Whitewalls will turn yellow if you use Armor-all or some other tire treatment on them. It's a chemical reaction on the whitewall surface itself, and that is what turns the whitewall yellow/brown. The best way to clean them is to use a Brillo Pad with Ajax or Comet to clean the whitewalls. I have had my whitewalls on all my cars nice and bright without using anything on them. The first set of tires I got, I did the same as everyone else. I spray Armor-all on them. Within three months, they turned yellow/brown. I kept cleaning them with a tire brush but again sprayed them down with Armor-all. It of course turned yellow shortly afterwards When I bought my classic style tires for my 56 Fury, the sales person told me to never use Armor-all on them. To just clean them with a Brillo pad and comet. I can use armor-all on the black rubber surfaces but never on the whitewalls. Since that time, that is all I do to them and they stay nice and white.
