[FWDLK] [Fwd: [FWDLK] Gas prices]

In regards to cutting food production, I for one would start planting
veggies in the backyard instead of the 6,000 square foot lawn I'm so sick
of mowing each week.

Seriously, the economic impact of of cutting or increasing fuel
supplies/prices etc. is difficult enough to predict using the most complex
econometric forecasting models. I don't think a car nut like myself (I
don't want to speak for everyone) can or should try to figure it all out,
and I have a degree in Econ. At some level, we should show our concern
and protest a little. This leads to compromise, our nations greatest
strength (I think Shelby Foote said that). Then we should get on with out
lives.

While we're at it, I think we should all pat ourselves on the back for
conserving fuel. I know, like most of you, I actually have reduced my
fuel consumption since getting into this hobby. While we love to drive
these cars, we spend at least as much time working on them and stopping to
talk about them with others. In the end, despite our MPGs, we simply use
less fuel than the average Joe tooting around town in the their Honda
Accord (I also own a Honda so don't jump on me for that comment).

A personal effort I'm making is to ride my bike to work each day. It's
great for my health, I'll save enough for my big trip to South Dakota this
Summer, and I might even help the environment a little. I doubt I'll have
any dramatic impact on the local service station. Seem to be plenty of
people lined up to pay the $1.72 a gallon for regular that they charge
here in Central California.

Happy motoring to you all!
