Hi everyone! Just an update on Delores (my 61 Desoto 4 Dr.) Got her running and gave the new motor a good break-in on her trip to Dallas TX. while delivering her to the vehicle processing plant, she'll now be trucked to L.A. CA. to be loaded on a ship to Okinawa Japan. Personal notes on this: Had the front end aligned before I left Clovis NM. and they screwed it all up!!.....I thought the guy who was doing it was competent on aligning older mopars...WRONG!!!!, he set both caster and camber to negative settings!! the car would squirrel all over the place at the smallest bump in the road, had car realigned in Lubbock TX. at a Firestone dealer, he did a super job!!! car drives itself down the road now...(note: (1) power steering/neg caster...BAD!) Transmission overhaul went off without a hitch!! (didn't even have to adjust the kickdown linkage!)....(note: (2) these cast iron pushbutton torqueflights are bulletproof!!) The entire trip to Dallas (approx 500-600 miles) went beautifully, not a hiccup at all (I really love this car now!!)....(note: (3) the extra 45 bucks to bump the new radiator core to a 4 row was well worth it, car runs nice and cool, even bored .030 over!) Even my wife (who has been extremely critical of this car since I got it has warmed up to her tremendously....greatly helps the marriage!!!..hehehe) All in all you could say I am one very happy camper these days!!! and again want to thank everyone on the list for their help and suggestions on the resurrection of my beautiful finned family member (can't keep my 7 year old daughter out of the back seat squealing "let's go for another ride daddy!!) makes it worth all the blood sweat and tears!!!
