Thaks to Dave, I have a new star wheel for my door latch. I got the latch
back together tonight. It has been hot tanked and is cleaned and lubed. It
works smooth as silk until you use the lock mechanism. After you slide the
lock back to the unlocked position, the latch mechanism is stuck and takes
one heck of a crack to get it working again. After that it's smooth as silk
again, until you move the lock mechanism into the locked position and back
to the unlocked position. I am afraid that if I put it in the door like this
and lock it, I will end up bending a door rod after it is unlocked trying to
open it! Suggestions? I don't see any obvious binding. Anybody ever have
this problem?
