Hello Everyone, My name is Joe Coyle from Chevy Chase, Md. (near Wash., D. C.) ...and I'm a car-a-holic. I have been on the ML for a couple of weeks now, and find the traffic interesting and useful. I was previously very active in the hobby, and although I still serve on the board of directors of a large regional Chrysler Products club, family and other pressures recently have limited my participation to the occasional local car show. I have a number of collector cars, but at present, only one falls within the parameters of the FORWARDLOOK LIST's interests - my 1955 Imperial. This is a beautiful black sedan with gray interior which I have owned since 1978. When I bought the car from its original owner, it had 35,000 miles on the clock. During the 20 years I have owned it, we have run-up 22,000 more - it presently has 57,000 original. No major work has ever been done to the car; it remains a superior highway cruiser fully competent to keep up with modern traffic. My family (originally from Connecticut) owned Chrysler cars from the twenties through the present, but among those from the " Exner Era " were many of my favorites, including: our first 1955 Imperial (which later inspired mine), '55 DeSoto Convertible, '56 Plymouth Belvedere 4 Dt HT , '57 Crown Imperial, '59 Crown Imperial, '60 Dodge Polara 2 Dr.-HT, ' 61 Chrysler New Yorker 4-Dr HT, and a '61 Imperial ( seem to recall that it was a Southhampton). Over the years, I've been through a few jobs and parts searches for my '55. Glad to help if I can. Joe |
