BENNINGTON, Vt., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The monthly content of Hemmings
Motor News -- more than 800 magazine pages of collector cars, parts, services,
tools, supplies and automobilia for sale -- is now available sortable by topic
at www.hemmings.com.
Hemmings Motor News, "the bible" of the collector car hobby since 1954,
now posts tens of thousands of hobby and commercial ads on its web site --
classified ads in full text and display ads in summary form. Cars for sale
range from turn-of-the-century veterans, to classics of the Fifties, to
high-tech and high-performance customs, all searchable by marque, model, year,
location and price to make hobby hunting a faster and easier task.
Motorcycles, trucks, tractors, commercial vehicles, and farm equipment are
also listed.
In addition to thousands of Cars-for-Sale ads, one third of Hemmings
Online ads are for rare, obsolete or performance parts. A final third are ads
for services, supplies, tools, literature and automobilia, all searchable by
type of item (engines, etc.) as well as marques, brands, and locations.
The depth of classified ads at www.hemmings.com is remarkable. For
example, a recent search for Chevys for sale from the '50s and '60s yielded
more than 1,200 unduplicated ads nationwide.
"Unlike other sites, visitors to Hemmings Online can search for several
marques or models at a time without having to begin numerous new searches,"
said Perez Ehrich, Hemmings Motor News vice president and
web project manager. "In other words, we make it easy to dream and to make
dreams come true."
Helping visitors know what to offer for their dream cars, the site
includes computer-searchable Value Guides to post-war cars, and for post-1982
motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, watercraft and snowmobiles. There is even
a page for the new hobbyist, "How to Get Started in the Old Car Hobby," with
excerpts from Hemmings classic start-up booklet.
Other hobby resources at www.hemmings.com
include searchable lists of
almost 5,000 car clubs, 224 museums, and more than 2,000 car shows and
auctions.
"In fact, the club and event listings are so extensive that clubs tell us
they check the Hemmings' web site before scheduling their own events, to avoid
date conflicts," said Ehrich. Hobby information on the site also includes a
list of stolen collector cars (241 in a recent check), and hobby scam alerts.
Along with the new posting of the Hemmings 800-page magazine content,
visitors to www.hemmings.com can now submit
and pay for classified ads online
to appear in print and on the web. In fact, the interactive features of
www.hemmings.com are so extensive that
visitors who don't find what they are
looking for can actually create and place wants ads without leaving the site.
Organizations, like car clubs, can submit details of their car shows and
other events online. Hemmings Online e-commerce also enables visitors to
subscribe or renew a subscription, or use a search feature to find the nearest
newsstand which sells Hemmings Motor News.
At the Hemmings Motor Mall shoppers can buy Hemmings drive reports on
330 vintage vehicles, collectible die-cast models of historic cars and trucks,
various books and price guides, as well as picture calendars featuring
sought-after cars and trucks.
"We know our core hobbyist group will always want to receive the latest
issue of Hemmings Motor News in the mail, so the online service will not
replace the magazine," said Ehrich, "but this new electronic, searchable
access puts the resources at Hemmings Motor News in front of a whole new
audience, in a whole new way."
