Watch those new inner and outer seals (1139896 i.e. 50776) and (859164 i.e. 6241-s). Thought they would be neoprene but close inspection showed a bit of fuzziness to the seal portion and lo, they were still the LEATHER seal types, like the old carb accelerator pump plungers were. Shop manual says soak in light engine oil for 30 min, it is definately needed! They are dry dry dry as-is and must be saturated to get flex. the manual also cautions to watch the 'feather edge' on the seals, that it does not get damaged by the axle - or the groove where drum sits? Positioning the groove down rather than up during installation helps. Aint done yet, spring is not here! Lars |
