Mel - My source is the Standard Catalog of American Cars, published by Old Cars Weekly. Additionally, I'm looking at the 59 Passenger Car Parts book on page 14-5, where there is a listing for carburetors (section 14-30-0). Notice how there is a listing for front and rear carbs for all except Plymouth. From all my readings from Chrysler literature and other sources, all the engines were silver. There was an article about this in the WPC news a few years back. Some of the hi performance engines (like the Dodge D500, for example) had red valve covers, I believe. I think in 1960 or 61 they started painting the engines red. But since I only know about 57 - 59, I can't swear to that.
