For what  it is worth, my three 59 Imperials all hade or anodized, not painted, m okirrors.  My 57 Plymouth had a painted one.

There were seveal different rear view mirrors.the one with chrome base was the top of the line  the parts book also shows mirrors that clamp on the door. David Wallace 1958 fury
