Looks like I will put a 318 aluminum bell housing to my 270 with HotHeads adapter and aluminum flywheel, and connect the manual '55 clutch linkage and a 4 speed transmission. If I can find a 4 speed trans with the drum emergency brake then I won't need to swap out the '55 stock rear housing. Otherwise I will weed to source an 8 3/4 rear housing so as to have an emergency brake. Does all this sound correct??? It is a Dodge 270 with a three speed manual overdrive currently, in a 1955 Dodge. Has anyone had any experience doing this? I did talk to someone that fitted an S10 5 speed behind an 354, but I just like to stay old school as well as all MoPar. Over the years I would think that someone has already done this??? Any help or conversation would be helpful. George I think you can check with these folks, http://www.hothemiheads.com/ By George, I think he's Got IT!! (to restate an Old phrase) Zounds Like a wienerThe 270 has some motorvation, BUT you are Not Limited to just an 8-3/4 rear axle, plenty of A body's used the smaller mopar rear axle setups with success. SO it might open up your hunt some by adding the smaller units as a possibility. As I understand it, the Mopar 8-3/4's have a solid reputation as being a pretty strong unit, but with the 270 you are not going to over power the others with a street setup. -- Paul Holmgren If No one comes from the future to stop you from doing it, then how bad of a decision can it really be? ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 Help the Forward Look with every eBay purchase by starting your search here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/eBay Help the Forward Look with every Amazon purchase by clicking here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/Amazon
