Jim, you may have solved the or at least part of the mystery transmission, it cannot be a 1959 TF….
It has the parking brake on the tail shaft and has 3 speeds is water cooled and has the push buttons, so I wonder what year it is? The previous owner was less then forth coming on other issues that have arisen so maybe he just was mistaken when he told me the TF was a '59…..
How can I positively id this trans?

iron torqueflite on a '69 engine? this will only work after you swapped the crank for a 59-61 383RB or 413 unit as the converter for the iron TF/PF uses the 8 bolt extended flange crankshaft. Also- you should just run a 62-65 cable shift 727 instead of the iron trans...
and as for the TV linkage [not really [only] kickdown linkage].... you can use the PF bellcrank, but cut it and moce the pivot ball to be 1/4" down from the throttle rod attachment pivot ball, the fulcrum point from TF to PF is substantially different, as is the travel of the throttle valve in the valve body. lengthen your rod from the bellcrank to the trans lever, start with WOT as full TV pressure, and work donw from there to tailor you shift points.

When I put the big block/727 in my '57 Plymouth I just used the stock powerflite linkage with some modifications, it took time to get it right but it worked so I'd imagine the same would be true on a cast torqueflite.
I am in need of the complete trans kick down, linkage and rod kit for a 1959 trans that is bolted up to a '69 440….
I am hoping that a 413 set up out of a '59 will work, or does anyone have experience with putting together such a deal?
I have a 440 2X4 edelbrocks hooked up to a '59 torque flite that does not have the kick down linkage and rod, and cannot find what I need so does anyone have a source for a hot rod kick down linkage and cable kit that may work for me.
I just do not know enough to know what to look for.
All the kits I find are for 1962 and up….
