The closest semblance to this real world "road" experience is in the
"McCabe & Mrs. Miller" movie.
50's-60's 'Frontier Town' TV/movie streets (including the Clint Eastwood
"High Plains Drifter" ilk)...might have a couple occurences of road-apples
in them...but, as a rule, their towns' roads were antiseptically clean
and hard-packed.
"Fire at the Mine" is the next movie in this genre.

Who needs a 4wd?
They do NOT make them like they used to!
As this video dramatically demonstrates, our roads have
come a long way in
94 years.
One must wonder if many of our 4 wheel drive and ATVs
could do as well as
this 1920 Dodge did.
THIS IS AMAZING OLD FILM FOOTAGE!
