I am thinking the rams were blue on the J’s and K’s. I did see a lot of one J back in 1963 but not since so my memory may not be accurate but I do generally retain that kind of stuff from 50 years ago. Don’t ask me what I did 50 seconds ago however ……

Also the J & K rams had the shortened passages. The ram were the length as the earlier long ram manifold but the divider that ran the full length of each branch was shortened to about 15” from the head. This is very obvious from the outside of the manifold as there is a definite depression showing the divider location and on the J’s and K’s it only ran partway and the rest of the branch out to the carburetor plenum was smooth on top (and bottom but you can’t see that just by looking under the hood). All the long rams, shortened divider or not had carburetor heat supplied by the exhaust. This is why the shortened versions still stretched all the way past the opposite head. The pure race version as on the Plymouth Super Stocks and Dodge Ram Chargers were fully contained between the heads and did not have any carb heat and were a real bear to drive until the engine got up to operating temp.

These manifolds were available from 1960 on the optional and very rare 400 ho 300’s and over the counter for the Dodge and Plymouth drag racers but have been and still are very scarce. The long ram version were much more common and they are scarce. And when used on 1960 and 1961 Plymouths and Dodges, MAYBE the 300’s too, were painted red. Dad had a 1961 Dodge Dart Phoenix 4 drht with one of those torque motors for a short period (Until I crashed it, at a slow speed and hit by a drunk) and I know the motor and manifolds were red …… I think.

300 Club Member Ward Gandy of Redding in far northern CA is holding an online auction for a whole slug of ‘30’s-‘70’s cars. Take a virtual trip through his pasture and you might spot a restorable or parts car to help your 300 or other project along.

I see the ‘64K has red rams. Can anyone confirm whether red or Chrysler blue is appropriate for the J&K rams? My ram K parts coupe came to me with red rams/exhaust heated.

A lot of glass has been busted out, but many of the cars may just be surface rusty. Our roster shows Gandy has/had a B, also, but not evident in the listing.

Nice Tango Red ’55 NY coupe—would make a good donor body.

Nice black ‘57C coupe 3N571116

Very tired 62H coupe —can’t tell if engine is there.

Tired ’64 sport coupe with white buckets, listed as a ’63 trim & bumpers may be OK.

Decent looking ’64 wagon—does not appear to have a/c.

Restorable ‘64K coupe with a/c & rams-in our registry-- looks like white respray over black but in registry as WWI 8443222934 One might pick up a bargain ram engine car here.

Lots of Caddy’s, Strudelbaker’s, Willy’s, De Soto’s, Imperials, NY & Windsor parts cars. Looks like someone trying to capture the glory of the past. Can you imagine that?

Update on my 300K with the mushy brakes: The re-rebuild of the remote power brake booster resulted in a firm pedal with a blocked outlet, but the second set of new wheel cylinders is also leaking. Attributed to poor quality of cups, iron or both. I and my mechanic are getting frustrated. Gone through 2 gallons of brake fluid.
