True story -
1975-6 ? A junior high school socializing pastime was rollerskating down at a local rink. There were "big shot" kids who seemed to curry favor with the establishment. They could out-skate most anyone there, and were just generally "big shots". So, there was some sort of race and naturally the big shots had to get in there and show their stuff. The disco scene was getting hot, and the whole tight pants and bell bottoms was "the scene" and one of the big shots had a dandy all-white outfit to show off in. Well, said big shot took a nasty fall during the race, slamming into the boards, breaking his leg above the knee.
Medics were called and our boy was hauled off the rink to a nearby lace-up bench to await help. When the medics arrived, they informed our boy that they were going to cut his pants off him. The fuss this kid tossed was WAY over the top, considering. Lo and behold, when they removed the pants, the kid had a sock and a cucumber strung around his waist and hanging "strategically" in his pant leg.
Oddly, after this incident, we never saw him around that rink again. Hmmm .....

Just a reminder to keep the posta clean, folks.
Thanks! The "ladies" tend to be real disappointed when everyone "draws their weapons" and discover the poser only brought a butter knife to the gunfight.

The best comparison I can make to that is sticking a sock in your underwear

Some years ago I went to the Hot Rod Nationals, along with the
racing they have a decent swap meet and car show at the venue where I
am.
Whilst walking the long way to the swaps area I spied a nice
looking small hot rod coupe, and since it had an open hood area I was able
to spy the 'hemi' sitting in it from a distance. ALrighty I go, lets check
this one out a little.
MAJOR BUMMER when I got close enough to it to
stick my head around it. It Had Black Plastic Valve covers in the early Hemi
configuration, But it had Skirts on the flange. The Skirts covered the spark
plugs and wires going to them, Yups Someone went to some trouble to make FAKE
Hemi covers to disguise the chebby small block to look like a
mopar!
Basically the plastic covers allowed the spark plug wires to
pass through them like the hemi. The Skirts were also cut to just fit
between the exhaust system at the manifold as they provided the camouflage
of the true spark plug locations.
At least it was semi-retro, it did
have chevy double hump heads.
