Hello All:
I'm attempting mate a Flathead Six to a aluminum push button 727, for my '56 Dodge project.
It is my intention to use all stock MoPar parts and no after market parts if possible. So far all stock seems possible.
Has anyone already put this combination together and can supply some information?
I'm using a modified (cam, pistons & shinny bolt on parts) Chrysler 265 cu. in. flathead six engine, a 727 small block aluminum cable shift case from 1965 with a transplanted tail shaft that has the emergency brake unit, the adapter for engine to transmission is from a farm combine that used this similar combination.
I do know that this combination was never used in any auto production. But, I have found this combination in some mid
sixty's farm
equipment, some street sweepers, very early Toyoto forklift trucks and a lot of airport tug tractors. But none that I have found were complete, all had parts missing.
I did manage to get some of the block to trans adapters and one crank adapter. What I have not found was an original torque converter or the flex plate.
Any ideas as what might be good to use?
The six is an eight bolt crank flange, which would suggest a Hemi flex plate???
Again, anyone already invented this wheel????
