First a couple pics (hopefully) and then some discussion

First pic is captioned: Here you can see that the points are so misaligned
that they close next to each other instead of on each other.

Second pic says: Here they are open. You can see from the black burn
marks on the armature that the lower point had been making contact over
to the side.
