Hi Ron, I agree with Mike that one of the basic meters will probably work
fine.
However I use a mini Triplett analog meter for most of my auto work an
Amprobe brand and a Fluke occasionally (digitals). Just depends on the
situation. Not sure about what Radio Shack sells these days but don't spend
a lot on made in China when Harbor Freight sells them for $2.99

When you are looking at little blips such as momentary contact switch or points opening and closing the digital does not act fast enough to see. The analog meters are getting hard to find. If you want to measure the difference between 12.5 volts & 12.6 volts the go digital. For most automotive work a $ 10.00 to $ 20.00 unit will work great.Just my 2 cents worth, Mike At 01:12 PM 1/14/2012, you wrote:Hi Gang -I have a gift card from Radio Shack that I want to use to purchase a Multi-meter. I'm looking for a nice basic one that I can use for my vintage car projects. Can anyone recommend one ? I'd prefer digital over analog. Also, are the Radio Shack ones any good, or should I look elsewhere, like Sears/Craftsman ?Ron ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1Mike Singer Phone: 814-486-1881 Work 814-486-1010 Home Fax: 814-486-2080 e-mail: desoto@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 11769 Route 120 Emporium, PA ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 ----- No virus found in this message.
