Very inaccurate data in the ads text. You are correct that the exterior trim is not that of a Regal Lancer nor is the interior. It may be a “Spring Special” but then it may also be just a plain CRL. I can’t exactly recall when that particular fin molding was used. It also does not have a D500 engine as they were 361 cu. In. in 1958. Nor does it have WCFB carb. In ‘58 Chrysler switched to the Carter AFB. And, if one looks at the photos closely, it is very obviously an AFB.
I sent all this poop to the seller right after the auction was posted and they replied thanking me for the information but…….
We had a Regal Lancer for a short period. Dad was a Dodge factory rep and he had several “field” cars a year, the slower the sales, not more cars. At one point in 1559, he had four cars. The Regal was a end of model year “build out” car. It had the dual quad D500, soup bowl had caps and manual steering! He drove it very little as he also had CRL four door with the single carb D500. This was an normal production car and had all the normal Custom Royal equipment, including wheel covers and power steering. The steering was why dad seldom drove the Regal, manual steering models in those days were very hard steering cars and almost impossible to park in a tight spot. He finally unloaded it to Edwards Motor Car Company in Milwaukee. They put wheel covers on it and sold it to a guy who saw it and fell in love with it (it was a very sharp car). He bought it without driving it add when he picked it up, they had it lined up so he could drive out the door before making any turns. Once he did get out the door and had to turn, he immediately parked it and walked right back in complaining about the hard steering.
What was kind of neat was at the time the Regal was at our house, my brother had a 1958 Plymouth Fury. So, on weekends when dad was home we had a Plymouth Fury and two Dodge D500’s in our driveway. Oh yes, and mother’s 1950 blue Dodge with the Gyro-Matic transmission. The car was affectionately nick named “the turtle”.

Nice looking 1958 Dodge, but to me it does not look like a "Spring Special" (I have a Coronet Spring Special, and this car has none of the special chrome accents, etc I would expect), nor does it appear to be a Regal Lancer (interior door panels, etc are not correct). Although a nice car by Midwest survivor standards, I think the hyperbole exceeds the facts.
