Re: [FWDLK] 350 Block Questions

Correct ...  the 350 was the smallest B-block bore out and only offered in 58, ....  just too "Yesterday" for the 50's power-oriented "fashion set" !

Largely, it was a DeSoto engine, built into ALL Firesweeps in either 2 or 4 barrel form.  I know the Fury *could* be ordered with one as an upgrade, but I guess Dodge never got the 350.

By 59, everyone HAD TO move up a notch to appear newer and better and the 350 was finished.

Think that the 350 engine was one-year only (1958).  Not sure of their application, aside from Furys.  Each Chrysler Division still had their own engines in those days.

  Roger that for 58.

So, did Dodge get a 350 at all ?  ....  or was it the 325 poly base engine and the 350 as the D-500 ?  I owned a 58 D-500 and it was a 361 car.  Forgot about the 325 holdover.

Beg to differ on the engine in '58 Dodges.  The standard V8 engine was 325 cu in, same engine that was used in 1957,  up from 315 cubes in 1956.  The 59 Dodge V8 was a 326.

I have 57, 58, and 59 Dodges.

The 350 was standard fare in ALL 58 Firesweeps and base V-8 Dodges (D-500 got 361)

Today I picked up a 350 block from a fellow in Everett, WA.
It's just a bare block -- no crank, bearing caps, heads, etc.

Can you guys help me verify that it's the real deal?
Here are the numbers on the block:

casting no. 1461416
date    7-15

no. on pad at front  5562119057
Is this the VIN from the car it came from? If so, what does it decode to?

Lastly, other than the 58 Fury, which other cars could have had 350s in them?

Thanks for any help.
