You know, we really need to keep the commentary on
this list confined to Forward Look Mopars.
The common "knowledge" about the McDonald's coffee
incident is just plain wrong.
I, too, bought into the frivolous lawsuit idea.
Until I saw the documentary about it, that is. I saw the horrible photos. Not
for the faint of heart.
Based on the other OT incident of late on this
list, I hereby suggest that we collectively agree to bite our tongue and resist
the temptation to bloviate about matters where there is the distinct possibility
we might actually NOT know the full story about something, but in any case is
certainly NOT FWDLK-related.
Only Forward Look for me from here on out. Who's
with me on this?

watching
so far i've heard
its fascinating to watch the video... but then the hazards are cited one after
another... shows how ridiculous the world is becoming- all this safety and
political correctness is killing society, making people lazy and stupid....
i'm 32, and its sad to see the generation older than me, mine, and all the
younger ones- wanting to be coddled with safety equipment, and God forbid
something goes wrong, who do we sue? who may be insulted if the caution
stickers dont show both genders and every color of skin depicted for the
hazard at hand....
like the
woman who sued for getting burned with coffee? really? after she burned
herself, someone should have walked over and slung another fresh cup in her
face for being an idiot....
i have a
feeling- out of all those safety hazards, fewer people were hurt than now with
all the safety BS and crying employees do/have these days- back then, if you
worked with machines, you knew if you mess up, its going to hurt, people
stayed alert and focused.... now its, oh wow, safety glasses, ear plugs,
gloves...i dont have to worry!
7 out of
10 people i encounter on a daily basis need a good slap at the least.... the
crap and twisted ideology these days is scary.... i hear senior citizens
talking about google... and kids these days cant read the hands of an analog
clock or know what a card catalog is....
work ethic is a
thing of the past.... society has their hand out waiting for their share by
doing nothing.... and this is forwardlook related because in the days of the
fwdlk era, people didnt cry when they crushed their hand at work, got sick
leave and sued.... they went home bandaged it- felt stupid and never made that
error again!

Just found the time to watch this fascinating video.
There were some truly hazardous, even dangerous, construction operations
back in the 30's.
At about 2:30, there are men who have large machinery close in in them from
both sides---one bad mis-step, and 'you' were history!
At about 6:30, men are seen stepping up onto narrow moving tracks, to
attend to
the front sheetmetal.
One bad slip, or when a bumper bracket would catch your pants, causing
you to
fall or get caught under the car, and you are in a World of Hurting.
The construction noise must have been deafening.
