Wonderful.....that's why I'm going to be carrying a spare points-dissie
with Horrie.
BTW, a Pertronix system will make the electrical system maintenance free and will provide (maybe-) a hotter spark than your present coil might be providing, but it well NOT increase a car's ignition/timing performance over whatever your present distributor is providing, in its initial, mechanical and vacuum advancements.Dave Homstad has confirmed that the dual point 300 distributors are woefully under-advanced and are not good candidates for hot-rodding a car's performance. Neil Vedder RICHARD SKINNER wrote: I too have added Pertronix to my '59 but in the regular distributor (Pertronix factory conversion) as well as their coil. No problem in the past several years. Also of note, at my local speed shop, the owner showed me some of the returned Pertronix parts that have seriously failed (melted) - turns out that recently Pertronix has had its parts made in China. These are the ones failing.
