Thanks for the update - and yes Frank Morgan did star in the "Sheriff of
Cochise". That was the show I remembered. Of course as a kid, I never looked
at names of actors - it was just the cars!!
My all time favorites for the Mopars were the Lawrence Welk commercials as
well as Groucho's DeSoto ads. Was his show called "You Bet Your Life"? Can't
recall the exact title but I tried to watch it every week!

Now you really have my curiosity up. I've always been a big fan of
Connors as we share the same birthday, April 10th, and I thought he was a
great actor. I have most of the Rifleman shows in my video library. I
also remember a western series, Branded, which was in 1965 & '66, but this
also was long before cars existed.
Could you be referring to "Sheriff of Cochise" which starred an actor
named Frank Morgan? I do remember the beginning of the show he drove up
in a '57-'58 Chrysler wagon. That show didn't last to long with only 58

I'm a Netflix customer and currently going through the Peter Gunn series
which used many Chrysler products. Unfortunately the Sheriff of Cochise
series is not currently available there. As a kid I would watch Peter
Gunn, but never could appreciate it until now and the cars really ad much
to it for me.

You are correct about the series name! My goof.
But Conners did star (at least in the Northern IL area incl Chicago) in a
series where he sported a rifle in his Chrysler wagon, always shown in
the opening scene.
Like the Lawrence Welk show, I never cared much about the show but always
was interested in the cars. As a kid I always tried to find those TV
programs with cars - especially Mopars.
If anyone can correct the info I would appreciate it. I am sure however
that the show was not Sky King.

Possibly I missed something here, but Kevin Joseph Aloysius (Chuck)
Connors who did star in the Rifleman series had no cars. This series
was based just after the Civil War and the closest thing Lucas McCain,
Connors' character came to a vehicle would have been a wagon pulled by a
couple of horses. Side note: The name "Chuck" came from his baseball
days when his co-players would say, "Hey chuck one over here".
I suspect the series you are referring to is "Sky King" who stared Kirby
Grant. This was set in the Arizona area in the 1950's and not only did
Grant drive Chrysler wagons he also flew his own aircraft named the
"Songbird".
I own a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe Town & Country that has some
"Hollywood" history and everyone always relates the wagon to Sky King.
I can't prove anything, but that series was shot out of the Tucson area
and our wagon traces back to Studio City or Hollywood. We think the
link to our wagon is Cecil B. DeMille the movie director who did such
epics as The Ten Commandments.
