OK, just as an update; I went to my parts shop and they have several
types of CV joint boots in their
catalog.
These boots are split-open, but get glued-together, so they are a
no-brainer as far as potential
ease-of-installation is concerned (and, no "MoPar/FWDLK-tax" involved,
either).
They sent me over to the trannie shop with their digital micrometer.
I saw that the front-end of the dust boot hose-clamps onto the rear of
the drive line's trunion joint cover, and that its rear
connection hose-clamps to the front of the driveline, itself.
I've given the slip-over measurements to the local parts shop, and they
may have a suitable CV joint cover in stock,
or one-or-more possibilities can be ordered, for delivery tomorrow.
I'll let y'all know which CV joint cover may fit, and hopefully post a
couple pics, too.

IIRC, the rear just needs a hose clamp to secure it to the driveline.
A zip-tie or a hose clamp on the front may work, but, at my office,
here, now (working-hardly) I can't
visualize how the front of my new-improved dust boot would be secured.
Right now, the driveline is removed from the car, so slipping a
motorcycle inner tube section over the
front joint would not be a big deal.
Gotta like the protocol of using a CV joint repair kit , too.
My local parts shop is researching their stock of misc. CV joint
repair kits, for me to come look at.

accordian/beehive shape as our b-n-t seals... a little larger
though... cutting it down to narrow the diameter works out, face the
seam opposite the common fwd rotation, and attach it with heavy duty
zip ties, oppose them for balance, not like it matters.... daily
driving all weather for about 4 yrs now in a 61 dodge with no issues-
and you wont have to disassemble the driveshaft to get it on, done
all in-car

As we all should know, this tubular-triangular corrugated-rubber guy
is not a grease seal, but serves to protect.... (very temporarily,
before it quickly self-destructs, and which also happens to be a
beotch to install).... the driveline's front trunion-joint, from road
dirt, etc.
I've checked around, and can't seem to find one for sale, right now.
I'm thinking that I could get a local leather shop to make a fully
functional facsimile of this guy, which might lace-up around itself,
as I have heard that there have been leather dust boots created, in
the past.
If someone will lend me an example, I will have my shop (if it can be
done, and I don't see why it couldn't be done) use it as a template
to make up a "permanent" leather dust boot, and will give the
'lender' a free copy of the leather-guy (along with the return of his
rubber-boot!)
If this project works out, I'll refer the rest of y'all to that shop,
which will have the template(s) to reproduce these dust boots.
...Unless, of course, someone can steer me to a shop which is ALREADY
capable of turning out these leather 'boots'. Neil Vedder
