Except for the front clip, the body is basically a 1962 Chrysler, or minus
the rear quarter panels, a 1961 Polara.
The brakes, though, are Bendix units shared with the 1963-64 Chrysler, as is the A727 Torqueflite. The 1963 and up A727 has a park sprag controlled by a lever under the pushbuttons, and the parking brake is on the rear wheels and not the driveshaft. So brake parts are much easier to come by than a 1962 Custom 880 or Chrysler. They are also self-adjusting meaning they are in need of less maintenance. The front suspension is shared with 122" wheelbase 1960-64 Chryslers, 1962-64 Dodge 880s, 1960-61 Dodge Polaras and 1960-61 DeSotos. Many parts also interchange with 1960-61 Plymouths and Dodge Darts. I also know that nothing like this could have escaped your attention so close to Indy! So I was hoping you would chime in. Seems like it may be worth a closer look....Just not sure about how much would be available for it. I did see that thetrim appeared all there..He states the paint is shabby. You have seen it in person- if you remember-what is your opinion of the paint condition? Not really wanted to do a repaint soon- but it IS the right color at least. The engine is no problem- but does anyone know if they repop the seat covers?? How about mechanical components? Is this REALY just a reskinned 62 Newport? So brakes, suspension, etc would be available?Really- I am looking for something to fix up and drive this summer and maybekeep longer or just sell. I may be moving to Europe in October- but that is just another story.. Thanks for the feedback so far!
