Every master cylinder I have ever seen on any car US or
foreign was bare, as cast, metal. Some new plastic ones are the exception
of course. Why? Because they are fairly thick walled
castings and their function will not be compromised long term even if
they externally scale. The factories knew they would get topping off fluid
on them that would eat any finish anyhow. So the manufacturers, who are in
business to make a profit, just left them bare.
