Remove the distributor cap and rotor, if the points are open(ignition
on), touch the tip of a screwdriver between the contacts to see if a
spark occurs. If the points are closed open them by moving the arm with a
screwdriver and watch for a spark. If you get a spark across open points
but nothing while opening them by hand, the points are dirty or need to
be replaced.Sometimes, pulling the points open several times and letting
them snap shut will help get things going. Mike At 09:26 AM 8/16/2008, Larry Ashbaugh wrote: After sitting for over a year, my 57 Coronet (325/Powerflite) is not getting any spark. I know the gas is bad and will drain it today, but the "no spark" issue has me thrown. Can't see a spark at the pints, and none at the sparkplug. Replaced the coil and ballast resistor with what I believe to be good ones, but no success, Cap and wires look good.
