Re: [FWDLK] Hissy Fitting (to be continued)

Karp's was the outfit recommended by Adam Lindenbaum.

Another nice guy to talk to, there.

Their quoted price, for their O/H work: $250.00 + $15.00 shipping/insurance.

They also said that they would call me, after they receive and take-apart my booster, to advise me on what they find to be needed to be done, and how much any additional costs(!) might be involved.

Karp's states that they actually make the O/H kits, for 'all' the other shops, and that there is at least one "very-special" part, the front-seal, which 'nobody' has (whatever that means).

Karp's is not, presently selling any front seals to the other-guys, and Karp's has about 20 front seals
still in stock.

At first, Karp's said that they had a "3-week" work backlog, but, later in the conversation, said that there
would be only a 5-6 day turn-around. Their internet site is @ resleeve.com

I think that I'm in the wrong business.

The cost to rebuild is $300.00 (US ) plus shipping and handling. We replace all the rubber seals, valves, polish the shafts to standard specs and install new rubber bellows on the outside. If the forks are damaged it's an additional $70.00 (US) so be sure to pack it carefully and insure it. You can send it by UPS, TNT or use FEDEX. I would recommend the postal service as the price is less and there aren't any duties.

Ron Karp

Dave Homstad has recommended that I contact White Post Restorations, and
so I did, today.

Spoke with a nice man, there, who told me that WPR only overhauls the
booster(s) ; no repair-parts
sold independently, and that there is only a 24-hr turn-around, on
their work, and that they would powder-coat my booster
(a nice touch), and that the booster-guy would be guaranteed
better-than-new, .....all for the low-low price of
only $490.00 !!!!!!!!!

If I had had a rubber-bellows type system, WPR would charge $695.00 for
an overhaul.

So, I guess that I'll keep on looking for a supplier of the overhaul kit.

Can any of you confuser-geniuses do an Epay scan for me, for a brake
booster overhaul kit?

Meanwhile, I'll call Kanter and Bernbaum.
