That first group of numbers is for your serial number :
L= 1958 model year
P= Plymouth
2 = V8
- = no digit is for the Lynch Road plant in Detroit. An L here would be
for LosAngeles, E for Evansville, IN, N for Newark, DE and W for Windsor, ON
"Next 6 digits does it refer what car number built down the line?"
Yes, minus 1,000. The first Plymouth V8 was 1001, thus if your car is
91000, it is the 90,000th V8 car off the line. Lynch Road V8 numbers ran
from 1001 to 140484, for a total of 139,484. And that figure includes all
1958 V8-engined Plaza, Savoy, Belvedere and Fury models built at Lynch Road,
as well as export Dodge Kingsway V8 and DeSoto Diplomat V8 models plus Dodge
Mayfair V8 convertibles built for Canada.

Subject: [FWDLK] Brake Fluid? Tags?
Hi everyone!
Happy 4th of July! Give Thanks To Our Men And Women In The Armed Forces!
We just got back on Wednesday from our long trip to Canada. Our 58 Plymouth
Belvedere 2 door hardtop is finally home. I will send pictures to who ever
would like to see.
What kind of brake fluid is recommended for our cars?
How do you read our tags?
I get the door tag.
My car was built:
L= Los Angeles Ca Plant
P= Plymouth
2 = V8
Next 6 digits does it refer what car number built down the line?
Body Tag?
Reads something like this:
3 digits space 5 digits
2 letters space 3 digits,letter,4digits space XXX
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks! Have a Happy 4th!
