[FWDLK] Help with a vin number

Got a call today from someone needing help to decipher a serial number on a 
58 Dodge

First line is  LD2   No problem there but the next line is

**5953   What is the double star about?  That should be the numbers 
indicating where it was built isn't it?

Any ideas what is happening here??

I am copying the party needing help so anyone who knows can hit reply all to 
keep them in the circle.  They are actually trying to find a copy of the 
original title and can't get anywhere with these numbers(**) in the mix.
