Re: [FWDLK] "Drive it on the highway"

Surely it is not being suggested here that there aren't tens of thousands of restoration projects aimed at authenticity that have never been started and are sitting behind the garage or out in the field further deteriorating or far worse have been partly disassembled or far, far worse totally disassembled and never taken further.  For I would suggest to you that the number of these is far greater than the number of cars begun to be hot rodded or customized.

Let the statement stand alone that
"All the uncompleted project cars we've seen out there should be sad testimony enough to leave well enough alone."
and if there is a large load of shame to be dumped, it must be at least equally shared amongst restorers and rodders /customizers.

When we look through our family albums showing cars new and in their early service years, what do we honestly see?   From flivvers to the full Classics, something very close to 50% of them BACK IN THE DAY had modified paint schemes, hub cap swaps, fender skirts, suspensions lowered or raised front or back, spotlights, fog lights, fender guides, visors and etc. and under the hoods there were modifications including cams, carbs and dual exhausts.

Its like liberals and conservatives:  the twain of pure restoration and modification has always been with us and always will be.  We ALL need to grow up, put on our big boy underpants and accept the way life is, then participate as we are comfortable in so doing, and contribute positively as we are able to the causes we believe in while accepting that our brothers have a different perspective and every right to have it.  In divisiveness we will surely die.     NO, this statement does not apply to gay marriage, Marxist government or global warming idiocy!!!
