I have only dealt with Atlas once. I bought a fuel pump kit for a double action pump. When it failed a year later, Atlas sent me a replacement at no charge, without complaint. The second kit has been working for 7 years now without problems. In my eBay dealings, I have had a few occasions where the Post Office has returned an item as "not deliverable". The buyer claimed the address was correct and said they get packages frequently. One time the buyer had moved and his forwarding had expired after 6 months! One came up with an alternate address next door. One I sent USPS Priority Mail, twice, and it came back both times. He had frequent issues with his mail and local Post Office. I finally sent it UPS and taped a MapQuest printout to his home on the side of the box. In these instances where the buyer's address has issues, I request reimbursement for the extra shipping costs. One customer had problems sending mail out of town. He mailed me a check and after 2 weeks, he contacted me to see if it arrived, which it hadn't. His second check arrived, I mailed his item, and he received it. Then his first check arrived, over 4 weeks since the postmark date. In over 1200 Priority Mailings, and several hundred receipts, the PO hasn't lost a single package. I don't bother to insure outgoing packages. At a buck a box, I would have spent $1200. If I have to replace a lost item some day, it only costs me $25. On March 22, 2008, I purchased from Atlas a "Fuel Pump & Flex Hose for 1955-1956 Chrysler & Imperial" in a "Buy It Now" transaction on ebay. I paid $126.64 (including shipping and handling) by USPS money order, and Atlas acknowledged receipt of payment on March 27th. Weeks went by, but no parts arrived. I filed a "Did not receive goods" complaint with ebay. Atlas responded that the parts had been sent but had been returned as "NOT DELIVERABLE" by the Post Office.... Atlas reported to me the address to which the parts had been shipped, and this address was correct. Atlas requested that I "advise" them about what to do. I replied that the address that Atlas reportedly sent the parcel to was, indeed, correct and asked that the parts be again sent to that address AND that Atlas include the documentation showing that the Post Office returned the parts as "undeliverable" so that I could take the matter up with Postal Inspectors. Two months later: No parts, no refund, no contact from Atlas. I am out $126.64 and have filed a complaint with ebay. I think that members on the list should be wary of Atlas Obsolete. Atlas's claims that the parcel was returned "undeliverable" doesn't make sense for several reasons. First, Atlas had my e-mail address -- if the parcel was returned, why didn't Atlas contact me and let me know? Second, the parts were sent to my P.O. Box -- not my home, and because this post office is small, I am on a first-name basis with those who work there. Why would a parcel addressed to my P.O. Box be returned as "not deliverable"? Third, my wife and I both receive at least a dozen packages a month at this post office -- there is NEVER a problem with delivery. Finally, why hasn't Atlas responded to my e-mail request to resend the parts or to refund my payment? Has anyone else had similar problems? I strongly suggest that you pay via credit card if you wish to deal with Atlas so that you have some recourse. I also suggest that you look for and deal with other parts suppliers. ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1
