US Customs impounds all cars leaving the US for Canada for 72 hours.  Don't know about the other way.

I'm bringing a car into the United States in a 2 or 3 months. Does anyone know what sort of papers I need filled out?  Is a bill of sale enough? Do I need a passport if I will be driving into Canada?
