Van’s prices for NEW tanks for most of their 60s –
early 70s Mopars ranges from $120 to $150, plus shipping. This is not “Mega
Bucks”. Hopefully the 57 – 59s will be similarly priced. Maybe even less than Tank-Renu.

Tanks further update
Hello
Forwarders:
Here are some thoughts on gas tanks for our prize
rides. When I began restoring my 56 Fury, I removed the gas tank, had it
boiled out at the local radiator shop and used one of those home do it your
self kits for interior lining and exterior painting. I then put it away
in the attic for a couple years. When I retrieved it for installation on
my Fury, the interior lining had deteriorated, came loose and was generally a
mess.
I then took the tank to the local Tank - Renu shop and
they removed all the crap from the inside as well as the paint from the outside
before putting a better lining inside and a tar like substance on the
outside. I then painted the outside with aluminized paint and put the
tank on the car. It has worked fine since then.
Moral of the story is that before spending mega bucks
on a repro tank, seriously consider restoring the old one. That includes
replacing rusted out sections unless the tank is a total loss.
