Good point. A well tuned DQ will outperform a well tuned 2bbl for fuel economy. I don't suppose I did any better with my DeSoto. That car runs a 361 4bbl with 906 heads and stock T/F. I made a critical error in the pushrods and never could get it to run right. Still, over a 3700 mile trip, I averaged 17.44 mpg. Once fixed, I never drove it to the degree where I could get a good mpg reading. It ran great, so I presume it did better. When it hits the road next time, it will be 383 4bbl, 906 heads and a specially geared stick. I am hoping to push well into the 20's with that set up. BTW - what does your car weigh and what gears do you run in the rear ? I *think* mine were 3.23 ? The car weighs 5400 lbs !
