[FWDLK] winter storage

I know this has been talked about before. How do we put our cars away. I follow the traditional routine I have put for myself. Wash car, fill tires with air. Fill up with fuel(mid-Grade). Check oil and fluids. Make sure they are topped up. Add gas conditioner, disconnect and charge up battery for at least 12 hours. I use to take out the 6 volt battery and store it in the basement on wood. After all that work I find that batteries don't last past 2-3. 70 $C each so now I just leave them in the car fully charged. Same results less hassle. I have done this for 12 years and never had any problems. I was watching a Jay Leno's garage video and they said to put oil(mystery oil?) down each cylinder. Before that you should put it down the carburetor a little at a time until the car stalls. They advise to do this with the exhaust outside as the is a huge amount of smoke. Any thought on oil dripped in to each cylinder?
