Re: [FWDLK] Property Taxes / old cars and protecting oneself

And you Texans(as well as the majority of other state's lawbiding citizens) are permitted to carry a firearm to protect one from the miscreants that would harm you and yours.  Of course a  USA Constitutional given right! Our Calyfornua Politicos(thinking they know what is best for us) give you as self protection the 2 hour(or longer) response time of dialing 911.  Wonder how many of our citizens are maimed, robbed, and die needlessly, and how many daughters, mothers, wives and sisters, are assaulted and raped helplessly in our state because this government's choice to not permit one to protect oneself when it is totally apparent that the government will/can not?

The SEMA Action Network works on federal and state and some local law issues.  If you feel your state is unjustly taxing your collector car relative to how they tax newer cars, bring it to SEMA and through them get all the car hobby organizations in your state up in arms to do something about it.  They have lobbyists.  They have influenced a huge amount of hobby-friendly legislation in many states and have been doing it for many years.  They send out a monthly e-newsletter of what is going on everywhere in the country.  If you haven't been supporting them previously, you should be now.

and an older article about some victories they have won.

Thank God I'm a Texan:  5 year antique license for $45 and never ever been stopped for regular use of my collector licensed vehicles.
