[FWDLK] Price Insanity

She-from-whom-the-receipts-must-be-hidden [old Indian name] is shocked at the prices on eBay. She's prevailed on me to not get carried away, to pick a price I'm comfortable with and not go over it... by too much anyway.

There have been a few times that I paid more than what I wanted, once was a NOS turn signal mechanism for my '58 DeSoto as mine had just gone out. I was getting tired of people honking and waiving that my left turn signal was on.

At the Portland Swap Meet last weekend, there were some cars that seemed to go at reasonable prices, some overpriced junk that didn't sell, and a lot of dickering for parts.

Another take on the situation-- I've got some Brand F products, and the F Corp. encourages restoration of their cars by licensing repro parts. Shoot, I could put my F brand together easily and reasonably with all new parts. The Got Mine Corp. is equally favorable. WHY IS D-C SO RETICENT TO ALLOW NORS PARTS FOR OUR CARS? They're finally granting some licenses for '60's-'70's muscle cars. Are they ashamed of our Forward Look stuff?

He may be able to make hundreds but he can't sell them at this price
every time. sooner or later, he runs out of deep pockets, and then the
price falls. He'll keep making them as long as he makes a profit., so
make him a preferred seller on eBay and you'll get notified each time
he posts an item. When the price finally gets into your range, you can
get it.
