IMHO, a critical safety issue is the non-locked front seat back(s). The mid-late 60's saw a VERY effective, simple locking device be developed. It is a little, unobtrusive, spring-loaded lever, installed down LOW on the seat back, that engages a locking stud, thru-bolted, or welded, to the seat frame. Unfortunately, for 1957 2-door hardtops, with a OEM power seat plastic housing, there isn't physical room, to mount that lever. In 58+, the power seat switch-housing was a short-ish , chromed pot metal, piece, which provides plenty of space to mount the locking devices. That low-down lever was replaced by a 'high-up', side-of-seat devise, which is more convenient, but involves surgery, on the seat vinyl, & is much-more complicated Neil Vedder ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 |
