[FWDLK] Fwd: Re: [FWDLK] Fwd: [FWDLK] radial vs. bias

Agree with Jim, about 215R14, but I THINK that my DB's may have a "C",
in their size-coding, on the back-side of the tires.

Bottom line: DB's have a "tall" sidewall, and their o.a. height
produces an accurate odo reading.

I forgot to mention that this 215R14 notation is 80 Series Metric and in
height equals a P Metric 75 Series 225/75R14 (or P Metric 70 Series
235/70R13). Not exactly matches, but equals.

I've been told the height is to be derived as follows:
 - 80 Series Metric 215R14 is .80 x 215mm = 172mm
 - P Metric 75 Series P225/75R14 is .75 x 225mm = 168.75mm
 - P Metric 70 series P235/70R14 is .70 x 235mm = 164.5mm

This (metric) tire height has to be added (twice) to your wheel diameter to
get the actual wheel diameter (and derived from there: circumference), which
will affect your speedometer reading. A P235/70R14 will deviate 2.44% from a
P225/75R14.

And of course, choosing the right tire widt depend on the width of your rim.
And actually, you should pick a tires that matches the width of your rim.
Obviously a too wide tires shouldn't be mounted on a too narrow rim and vice
versa. You should follow the tire manufacturer's suggested tire sizes for
your rim width.

Your tires read 215R14, on the inside, because DB uses existing tires to
mount their white walls on, and do that on the inside of the tire, so it
doesn't loose its OEM (important) information.
In facts, you can send them your own tires to have them mount WWW on.

Again, the "correct-size" W.W.W. 14" Diamondback radial tires ( I cannot
'quote' their precise "size", as the size is displayed in TINY numbers,
on the back-side of the tires, and are
expressed in 'European' specs, and not e.g. :
"225/75R14").

Anyway, the o.a. tire size, and sidewall 'height' are "correct" ; the
odometer readings are spot-on.
