1957, 1958, and 1959 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler cars all shared the same basic body shell. The Plymouth was on a 118" wheelbase. The Dodge, DeSoto Firesweep and 1958-59 Chrysler Windsor were on a 122" wheelbase. The rear axle was moved back 4" to make the wheelbase longer. The Chrysker wagoin body was based on the 122" wheelbase. The DeSoto Firedome, Fireflite, Adventirer plus the Chrysler Saratoga, New Yorker, 300-C/D/E, 1957 Chrysler Windsor and the Canadian 1958 Chrysler Windsor were all on a 126" wheelbase, That extra 4" was all in the hood. Thus the Firedome, Fireflite, New Yorker and 1957 Chrysler Windsor wagons were also on the 126" wheelbase - used the Plymouth/Dodge wagon body with a 4" longer hood. The 2-door hardtop roofs were the same for Plymouth / Dodge and DeSoto / Chrysler. The same sharing was done for the sedans. The 4-door hardtop roofs, and door glass, was the same for Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler. The Plymouth roof was unique. The 126" wheelbase sedan models used doors with separate upper door frames while the 118" and 122" wheelbase models all used doors with the upper window frames as part of the main door. There were actually three windshields - the Plymouth sedans use a silightly smaller version with no curve of any kind at the top.
